Commercial Airlines have added more surcharges for travelers on baggage as well as extending peak travel dates. Several airlines will begin to charge between $23-$25 (up from $15) for the first bag, and $32-$35 (up from $25) for the second bag. Peak Travel Surcharges began with an additional charge of $10-$30 during the holidays and are now extended past the holidays to Fridays and Sundays, costing customers another $20-$60 in fees. According to a study by Farecompare.com, Peak Travel days are for 73 or 74 days between June 10th and August 10th. "This is like treating the entire summer like a holiday," says Farecompare.com CEO Rick Seaney to AOL Travel.

Not only are the commercial airlines charging more as mentioned above, they are also decreasing the amount of business and first class priority seating. Since airlines are not selling enough of the business and first class category, they are replacing priority seating for more affordable economy seating. This will form a separation between those who care for saving and those who will pay more for comfort.
